It's all about the music
Since 1957, Sam Cooke had been turning out hits like Twisting the Night Away, Cupid, Another Saturday Night, Chain Gang, and Having a Party. But in 1963, he took a break from from the big orchestral productions to make Night Beat, an intimate recording of blues and soul songs, The band was basic - no horns, no strings, no back- up singers, just piano, guitar, bass and drums and Sam Cooke's voice.
Taking its name and inspiration from Sam Cooke's album, Night Beat is four musicians (piano/vocals, guitar, upright bass and drums) with decades of experience, solid musical chops and a deep love of Rhythm and Blues. The band repertoire consists of a range of songs from the 1950's through the 1970's in a stripped-down format, that focuses on the heart and soul of the songs themselves.
